Polysulphate Success in European Fields

When it comes to choosing and using a fertilizer, the experience of other farmers can be part of the decision making process.

The record for the UK wheat harvest was broken twice in 2015. The spotlight was, for a short while at least, on yield. But, while the value of many cereal and other crops fell in 2015, for farmers such as Luke Paterson in the East of England, the focus is always on response to inputs, or the return on his agri-investment.

You can hear Luke’s own perspective, as he explains why he chose to use Polysulphate, and the difference it has made. “Looking at the crops growing in the field, I would recommend Polysulphate”.

Spreading the News

A Polysulphate user since 2013, Luke first chose to use this crop-boosting fertilizer on vining peas. Very happy with the performance with that crop, he then went to use it on oilseed rape and then, just two years later, to the whole farm. Particularly it is the spread-ability of the product that appeals; casting Polysulphate over 36 meters is not a problem.

Europe-wide Experience

Testimony from farmers is always interesting. German farmer Michael Zapf brings another perspective, sharing the benefits he found on the asparagus and strawberry fields of his family farm. He was impressed with the remarkable improvements in quality and yield from Polysulphate application.

To add to that experience in fruits and vegetables from continental Europe we now have this example from UK arable farming, where Polysulphate fits conveniently and effectively into the whole farming system.

Balancing Fertilizer to Achieve Yield Potential

To get the best crop performance, farmers need to think much more carefully about how and when to apply the precise balance of fertilizer the crop needs for best nutrition and growth. As these films show, knowledge of the interplay between different plant nutrients is key to achieve yield potential.
