Polysulphate: An agronomist's view

9 March 2016

Polyhalite is a new 4-in-1 organic fertilizer, produced and sold only by ICL as Polysulphate™. In this new video Hillel Magen, the Vice President for Agronomy at ICL Fertilizers, shares some of the key benefits of this new natural crop fertilizer.

Polyhalite is found in the UK's deepest mine, over 1,200 meters underground. With absolutely no chemical processing, polyhalite, marketed as Polysulphate™, is rich in sulphate, potassium, magnesium and calcium and is suitable for organic farming.

Exciting new fertilizer
Polyhalite is an exciting new fertilizer product. This new fertilizer, now called Polysulphate™, can be used as a source for sulphur, potassium, magnesium, and calcium for practically all crops.

Polyhalite research
Right now, ICL is conducting dozens of research and field experiments around the world on a number of different crops including cereals, oilseed rape, soybean, cotton and vegetables. These experiments have shown that crop yields and quality significantly increase when Polysulphate is applied.

Mineral structure
Polysulphate also has a unique solubility pattern which is due to its mineral – structure, being a single crystal. So while we observe excellent nutrient uptake by plants, we also see lower sulphate losses through leaching.

Salinity index
Polysulphate also has a very low salinity index, which makes it an ideal product to be used in banding, and can be applied at any growth stage without the fear of excess salinity.
